On August 30, 2019, ELC held a Round Table Discussion. The discussion was presented by Septia Dwi Jayanti, M.Pd. titled Writing a Research Proposal. This discussion was aimed to represent the contents of the seminar titled Klinik Penulisan Proposal Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat held on August 5-6, 2019 in the hall of the Ir. Soekarno building or the Rector’s building by Prof. Dr. H. Mufidah Ch, M.Ag. and Prof. Dr. Irwan Abdullah as the reviewers as well as the presenters. In the discussion in the lecturers’ room, she conveyed techniques and stages of writing a community service proposal and writing a research proposal in the field of social and culture. The writer should do based on the stages which are began from the title, background, problem formulation, objective, relevant previous research, relevant concepts or theories, method and technique, discussion, and references or bibliography. In writing a research proposal, she also stated some points the reviewers see from the proposal, such as new terms, article novelty, references using Zotero or Mendeley, and reputable materials used. Finally, at the end of the discussion, she encouraged the participants to make teams to collaborate in writing proposals for coming events. (BPK)

 

The UIMM Language Development Center team, represented by the Chief of the Language center and his four staffs visited the Language Development Center of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 10 AM. The purpose of their visit was to learn the management system of Language Development Center of UIN Malang by discovering information on how to manage language programs such as PKPBA and PKPBI in UIN Malang. Their visit was welcomed by Dr. H. M. Abdul Hamid as the Director of the Language Development Center of UIN Malang. In the meeting room, Dr. Syamsudin as the Chief of PKPBI opened the meeting which was also attended by Dr. Danial Hilmi, M. Pd as the Chief of PKPBA along with the management team of the Language Development Center of UIN Malang. In that moment, they visited the language laboratories of PKPBI and PKPBA. In addition, Deny Mustofa, M.Pd. as the Chief of UNIM Language Development Center said that they wanted to get an overview of the implementation of English and Arabic programs that are carried out at the UIN Malang. At the end of their visit they hoped for cooperation between the two Language Development Centers, especially in the implementation of the ITP TOEFL test and other testing programs. (BPK, ZAH)

PKPBI led by Dr. Syamsudin as the Chief, under the auspices of the Language Development Center began its lecture program on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. There are two kinds of lectures. First is Bahasa Inggris 1 with a load of 3 SKS and scheduled in the morning by each major. Second is Intensive English Program given to 3rd semester students and scheduled at 3 p.m by ELC. The lecture was located in 2 buildings, namely C and D buildings. In this semester, Ibnu Wahyurianto, M.Pd., the leader of the academic division, extended the importance of the program in which as a companion lecture of the regular one focusing on each major’s content, the Intensive English Program tents to be general English for daily activities which adopts acquiring by listening and implementing by speaking. Since it was the first meeting, the lectures only did a class orientation covering the introduction of the syllabus including the objectives, evaluation, teaching-learning agreement, books which will be used and so on. PKPBI held a meeting in the PKPBI lecturer room on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 10.00 WIB. This was held to discuss the event of Gelar Wisuda or Gawe 2019. The meeting was attended by Dr. H. M. Abdul Hamid as the Director of the Language Development Center, Dr. Syamsudin as the Chief of PKPBI, Agwin Degaf, M.A. as the Secretary of PKPBI, and PKPBI lecturers as the committee organizers. This meeting was opened by Ibnu Wahyurianto, M.Pd. as the Chairperson of the Gawe 2019. In the meeting, Dr. H. M. Abdul Hamid delivered his remarks covering the preparations of the event that should be done, services to the graduates, and main activity of the Gawe 2019 event. In addition, there were also several points to be discussed. First was each division reported the progress of their work. Second was each division should begin to focus and cooperate more such as completing the equipment, permit processing, publication, safety and health, consumption, certificate printing, etc. Before closing the meeting, Ibnu Wahyurianto, M.Pd. planed the second meeting of the Gawe 2019. It will be held in September. Finally, he hoped that the Gawe 2019 would be better than the previous year. (BPK, ANS)
